New Zealand Government Expeditionary Force Pay Warrant, cancelled 10 shillings, 21.9.1914, serial number 13802, on watermark paper, printed signature of Charles Cerutty and James Collins,
staples holes at top left, minor foxing, very fine. During WWI, New Zealand sent two brigades of a total 8500 men to support the British on the western front. But as the Ottoman Empire entered the war in 1914, the two brigades along with the Australian Imperial Force were diverted to Egypt to assist with the Gallipoli invasion. This pay warrant was likely used then for daily wages. Extremely rare and highly important.
