Departmento de Emision del Banco de la Republica Oriental del Uruguay, a group of 10x obverse and reverse unissued designs 500 pesos, 1966, including, brown, green, purple, pink and orange. Note there are 2 types with different noticeable border, font and guilloche designs,
(Pick unlisted), all PMG 67-68EPQ. These are unissued designs that were prepared for 'El Departamento de emission del Banco de la Republica Oriental de Uruguay'. Note this design was later used for the Banco Central de Uruguay 1966 issue which was then printed by De La Rue, while these unissued designs were printed by United States Banknote Company. With the different colours and designs, these were likely proposals from USBC to win the printing contract. A very unusual group providing a glimpse into the banknote production process. Important for South American banknotes specialists (5 pairs, 10 notes)
