1912 a collodion photo of Hong Kong antique and sundry goods dealer at a stall on the deck of German warship. Why can Hong Kong merchants sell on German warships? The background is: At that time, due to the 1911 Revolution, the situation in China was turbulent. In order to protect its interests in China, Germany sent the light cruiser Emden to support. When stopping over in Hong Kong for a rest, most officers and soldiers were not allowed to go ashore, so the commander of the German warship invited Hong Kong antique and sundry dealers to board the warship and selling their goods.
