1860 (Dec.) envelope from Shanghai to Malta, endorsed "To be forwarded" and with a superb impression of the rare circular handstamp "SHANGHAE/POST OFFICE/PAID" in red, Webb type 3, manuscript '4' rating, red framed "PAID" applied in Hong Kong, the reverse showing Hong Kong (27.12) transit c.d.s. and Malta (3.2) arrival c.d.s., very fine, an exceptional example of one of the rarest treaty port markings.
