Commercial Banak of Australia, specimen £5, 18- (1880-1910), Melbourne, serial number range A30001 - 40000, uniface,
(Vort-Ronald 1, Pick unlisted), PMG 58EPQ. An unusual specimen with Chinese characters printed on either side. There has been a few speculations as to the reason why, including there being two prominant directors being of Chinese descent. Also there being a sizeable Chinese population working in the gold mines in the area and wanting to reduce their aversion to 'paper'. Rare early Australian private bank issue
