UT. Great Salt Lake City. Printed Valley Note. 50¢. Jan. 20, 1849. (Rust 72). Issued to N. K. Whitney and signed by Brigham Young. Heber C. Kimball and Tho. Bullock as Clerk. Embossed with the Seal of the Twelve Apostles (see footnote below) which was designed in Nauvoo, Illinois by Young and John Taylor. Serial 948, which indicates that this note was technically never officially issued. Uncirculated. ($1,500-2,500) The official seal of the Twelve Apostles had an emblem of the priesthood - a three-pointed Phrygian crown over an all-seeing eye. It was encircled with sixteen initials: PSTAPCJCLDSLDATW (Private Seal of the Twelve Apostles, Priests of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, in the Last Dispensation, All Over the World). It was designed by Brigham Young and John Taylor on January 23, 1845 in Nauvoo, Illinois. Estimate US$ 1,500-2,500
