New Zealand — Railway Centenary 1/9d. with red omitted, fine. With normal for comparison. Pierron NZ1638MCa, £1,800; C.P. S91a(Z); S.G. 819a, £1,800. Photo Estimate £ 1,200-1,500 Note: The missing red results in the loss of the value and shading detail from the surrounding terrain. It also causes the diesel train to appear in the yellow underlay colour. A complete sheet of 120 stamps with the error existed originally, but the majority of stamps were stolen from dealers Bridger & Kay on 12 February 1964. It is believed the stolen examples were destroyed in panic as none bar the 16 examples from the top right of the sheet have surfaced
