Auction: 9037 - The "Pierron" Collection of British Commonwealth Missing Colours
Lot: 1193

Canada 2003 (3 Jan.) Chinese New Year 48c., a top left corner block of six (3x2) with colour dots, the first column with gold omitted, fine. Pierron CA4352MCa, £600+; Sc. 1969i; unlisted in S.G. Estimate £ 250-300 Note: The missing gold results in the loss of the Chinese inscription. Several panes from two pads of panes discovered on Vancouver Island were affected to varying degrees: just the left margin, the left margin and first column, the left margin to the second column. Due to the nature of the error across several panes, it is probable there was a temporary crease in the roll of gold foil which caused a progressive narrowing of the area the gold covered. Partials from the same discovery also exist. quantity: circa 230 mint
