A pair of commercial vehicle manufacturers: Gilford Motor Co. Ltd., 5 shilling shares, 1930, no.267, ornate border, orange-brown, together with Halley Motors Ltd., 6s 8d ordinary shares, 1930, no.1439, red, both about very fine (2). Gilfords originally built chassis for commercial vehicles fitted with Buda engines in the mid 1920´s. They moved to the Bellfield Works at High Wycombe in 1927 and also developed their coachbuilding business. They failed in 1935. Halley operated from their works at Yoker, near Glasgow and were to become best known for their output of fire engines. The company was a reincorporation of Glasgow Motor Lorry Co. which was liquidated in 1927. This company was also liquidated in 1935, their works being acquired by Albion. Estimate £ 60
