South Sea Company, a manuscript power of attorney signed Falmouth, authorising his wife Lady Charlotte Viscountess of Falmouth to ´Sell afsigne and Transfer´ all or part of stock standing in her name, 7th December 1726, entirely handwritten, folio, three impressed duty stamps, signed by two witnesses, a good bold letter and signature in very fine condition. Estimate £ 500 Hugh Boscowen, Viscount Falmouth (c1680 - 1734), 2nd creation, 1720 . A leading Whig politician who spent much of his fortune for the Whig cause. He was rewarded with several high offices: a groom of the bedchamber to Prince George of Denmark, steward of the Duchy of Cornwall, Lord Warden of the Stannaries, Comptroller of the Household (1714 to 1720), and joint Vice-Treasurer of Ireland from 1717 until just before his death in 1734.
