Société Solvay et Cie., certificate for 3% bonds of 500 francs each, Couillet 1875, handsigned Solvay et Cie in two different hands at bottom, ornate border, black on pink paper, handwritten remboursé across face, very fine and rare. The company was formed by brothers Ernest and Alfred Solvay in 1863 to operate the newly patented Solvay process of Sodium Carbonate maufacture. The first factory was opened in 1865 at Couillet in Belgium and the company is now a global concern, in chemicals, pharmaceuticals and plastics with sales approaching 10 billion euro. Although signed in the name of the company the signatures are probably those of Ernest and Alfred Solvay. Estimate £ 300
