Société Générale de Belgique S.A., ´titre de capital´ for 1000 francs, Brussels 1st July 1922, a lovely specimen certificate from the Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. archives, large allegorical female in the centre, red and black, with coupons, extremely fine and rare issue. Formed in 1822 under the auspices of King William of the Netherlands. Served as the National Bank of Belgium after independence in 1830 until 1850 when the Banque Nationale was formed. Invested in all branches of industry at home and in the Colonies such as Congo. The banking arm was split after 1929 and the company was eventually merged into Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux in 1998.
