King´s Police Medal, G.V.R., 1st ´coinage head´ type (Frederick Ost, Const. Metropolitan Police.), good very fine Estimate £ 280-320 K.P.M. London Gazette 1.1.1920 Constable Frederick Ost Metropolitan Police. Extract from Record (ref Home Office ltr POL/65 795/3/6 dtd 24.11.1966): ´´On 29 June 1919 PC 625 Fredick Ost and PC 584 Frederick Wright in plain clothes were keeping observation in Finchley on two suspect burglars. Ost went to arrest one of them and the man fired three shots at him at a distance of five or six yards. Wright, leaving the other burglar, went to Osts´´ assistance and the man fired four shots at him from close range. After a chase the two officers over took the man and overpowered him, taking away his revolver. Both officers were hit, but the force of the bullets was spent in passing through their clothes. Ost had seven bullet holes in his overcoat which he was carrying on his arm.´´
