Naval General Service 1915-62, G.V.R., one clasp, Iraq 1919-1920 (J.61092 W.H. Lowe. Ord. R.N.), nearly very fine, scarce Estimate £ 800-1,200 William Henry Lowe, born Staines, 1901; joined Royal Navy 1916, his service included in H.M.S. Espiegle, January 1920-February 1922; he was invalided to R.N. Hospital Haslar, August 1927. W.H. Lowe is listed in the published transcription of the roll as one of the naval party consisting of two officers and 34 ratings who were lent from H.M.S. Espiegle to River Craft Tug 1 and saw service within the borders of Iraq, between 1st July - 17th November 1920. The same transcription records Lowe´´s medal as being issued for recipient and subsequently returned to the Royal Mint for disposal. The latter appears to be in error.
