London Gazette 15.6.1974 Charles Derek Mayger, Superintendent of Police, Royal Hong Kong Police Force. Chief Superintendent Charles Derek Mayger, Q.P.M., C.P.M., born London, 6.12.1928; joined the Hong Kong Police in 1949 (the Force was granted the Royal prefex in 1969); awarded the Colonial Police Medal, 1974; promoted Chief Superintendent, 1978; awarded the Queen´´s Police Medal, 1982; retired April 1985, after 36 years´´ service. Chief Superintendent Mayger died at Goring-by-Sea, West Sussex, 14.10.1998. Whilst in Hong Kong Mayger was a regular spectator at the Police Sports and Recreation Club at Boundary Street, watching the rugby on a Saturday afternoon, where he was instantly recognisable puffing on his pipe.
