x Naval Long Service & G.C., G.V.R., 1st ´Admiral´s bust´ type, fixed suspension (J.202 T. Burke. P.O. H.M.S. Sandhurst; 347802 V.H. Dawkins. P.O.Ck. H.M.S. Victory.), generally nearly very fine (2) Estimate £ 60-80 Thomas Burke, born Liverpool, Lancashire, 1891; joined Royal Navy as Boy 2nd Class, 1908; service during the Great War included in H.M. Ships Foresight and Gazelle; served in H.M.S. Sandhurst, 1924-25, the latter had served as a dummy ship for H.M.S. Indomitable during the Great War and was a fleet repair ship by the time Burke was serving in her. Provenance: Captain K.J. Douglas-Morris, R.N., Collection Victor Herbert Dawkins, born Fulham, London, 1888; joined the Royal Navy as Acting Second Cook´´s Mate, 1907; service during the Great War included in H.M.S. Dahlia, when he was ´´suffering from shock 5.Sept.15 when H.M.S. Dahlia was struck by mine´´ (service papers refer); received L.S. & G.C. 21.3.1923.
