AF.F.), nearly extremely fine Estimate £ 500-600 Alan Lenox Conyngham Stuart (1863-1938), son of Lieutenant-Colonel R.A.W.C. Stuart, 17th Madras Native Infantry; educated at Corrig School, Kingstown, Dublin and Wren´´s, London; Exhibitioner under Irish Intermediate Education Act; LL.B. Royal University of Ireland; Honour and Prizeman, King´´s Inns, called to Irish Bar, 1891; appointed 3rd Class District Commissioner Gold Coast, 17.9.1898 (for which he was to receive a salary of £400 per annum); District Commissioner Winneba and R. Volta Districts; appointed Commissioner to enquire into the administration of Akwapim Province, 1899; Acting Attorney General, June 1899; served on Special Service with Native Levies, Ashanti 1900; promoted 1st Class District Commissioner for his services during the Ashanti War, and recieved the thanks or Sir J. Willcocks; could not return to Africa due to health, and attacks of Blackwater Fever; as a consequence he was posted to Cyprus in 1902, as King´´s Advocate and President of various District Courts; he was appointe Puisne Judge 1.8.1919; retired 1.11.1923, after 21 years and 29 days service; in later life he resided at 5 Templeton Place, London, SW5.
