Genl.), initial ´I´ officially corrected on both medals, light contact marks overall, otherwise good very fine (2) Estimate £ 800-900 Lieutenant-General John Irwin Willies (1826-1889); born Hampshire, son of Captain G.W. Willes, R.N. and Deputy Lieutenant for Hampshire; educated at Winchester College; commissioned Ensign 69th Native Infantry, 1843; Lieutenant 1848; served as Special Acting Commissary General, Bengal Army during the Punjab Campaign, 1848-49; advanced Major 1863 and accompanied the expedition to Bhootan in the capacity of Officiating Deputy Commissary General (Mentioned in Despatches); Colonel 1874; Major-General 1885; Lieutenant-General 1889 and died 27th November of that year at 51 Clarincade Gardens, London.
