x New Zealand 1845-66, reverse dated 1860-61 (E. Osborne, Gunr. R.M.A., H.M.S. Pelorus), a post 1873 issue, minor edge bruise, very fine Estimate £ 280-320 Approximately 116 New Zealand medals were awarded to H.M.S. Pelorus, of which 48 are known in Naval Medals 1793-1856, K. Douglas-Morris. Of this number 2 are recorded with undated reverses. Edward Osborne´´s medal was issued 16.5.1879. Edward Osborne, born Daventry, Northamptonshire, 1822; enlisted Royal Marines, 1840; transferred as Gunner Royal Marine Artillery, 1847; service included in H.M.S. Pelorus from 1857; discharged from service 1862.
