x Five: Gunner H. Hoar, Royal Navy Naval General Service 1793-1840, one clasp, Syria (Henry Hoar.); India General Service 1854-95, one clasp, Pegu (Hy. Hoar. A.B. "Hastings"); Crimea 1854-56, one clasp, Sebastopol, unnamed as issued; Turkish Crimea, Sardinian die, plugged with foliate suspension; St. Jean D´Acre 1840, copper, pierced for ring suspension as issued, with contemporary silver straight bar suspension, the last silvered, light contact marks throughout, very fine, all with contemporary silver top riband buckles (5) Estimate £ 800-1,200 Henry Hoar served as Ordinary Seaman in H.M.S. Stromboli on and off the coast of Syria, 1840. Gunner Henry Hoar, born Portsea, Hampshire, 1824; joined the Royal Navy as Boy 1st Class, 1838; served in H.M.S. Stromboli and as Able Seaman, from 1845, in H.M.S. Hastings; Gunner´´s Mate 1853; served as Acting Gunner 2nd Class in H.M.S. Modeste, 25.12.1855-30.6.1856; later service included in H.M. Ships Meander, Cressy, Minotaur, Asia and Medea; he advanced to Gunner 1st Class, 15.9.1870; he was pensioned 3.6.1879.
