Uganda Covers and Cancellations 1898 envelope (opened-out for display) addressed in the hand of John Bremner Purvis at Gayaza, sent to Durham, redirected internally several times, and then returned to Mombasa (25.6.99) via Zanzibar (16.9), bearing type-set 4a. with small "o" in "postage" cancelled by blue crayon cross, in combination with BEA 2 1/2a. tied by Mombasa c.d.s. in blue, and both stamps tied by Edmondsley transit c.d.s. (12.10), various attempts made to deliver the envelope in England with numerous manuscript notations and handstruck markings including straight-line "Undelivered For Reason Stated" and boxed "Pas trouvé/Not found", both in violet, "returned letter branch/newcastle on tyne" c.d.s.
