Uganda 1895 (March) Wide Letters in Black, Wide Stamps The first issue was produced by the Rev. Ernest Millar, C.M.S., using his Barlock typewriter with a black ribbon. He typed nine rows across each sheet of foolscap sized sermon paper. With thirteen vertical rows, 117 stamps were obtained in each sheet. The stamps varied in width from 20mm. to 26mm. The quality of the paper often resulted in the stamps being creased before use. 50(c.) block of six (3x2) unused with borders on two sides, the four right stamps 20mm. wide, the centre stamp in lower row showing error "u u g" for "u g", the additional "u" is partly erased; central horizontal crease between stamps and others with slight creasing. An outstanding showpiece and the largest recorded multiple of this issue. S.G. 8, £8400+. Photo Estimate £ 8,000-10,000 provenance: Roy Dunstan, September 1985
