x Sudan British Military Forces in Egypt and Sudan, 1801 to 1913 The Arabi Rebellion 1882 British Army Post Office 1882 (16 Sept.) small soldier´s entire letter (with enclosure) to England, marked "Active Service, Egypt", showing "british army post office/egypt" c.d.s. with code "b", showing unframed "T" with handstruck "1d" alongside with arrival datestamp on reverse. Very rare, one of two known 1d. concession rate stampless soldier´s letters. Photo Estimate £ 600-800 Note: While it is properly stamped with the "T" marking and the 1d. handstamp, the cover normally should have the name, rank, serial number and unit of the sender, as well as the endorsement of the commanding officer. Considering the small size of the cover it was allowed though contrary to regulations.
