Great Britain 1840 One Penny Black Plate IV BA-IA, vertical strip of eight (DA double letter D) with good to very large margins all sides and showing portions of six adjoining stamps at right, tied by red Maltese Cross cancellation on slightly refolded entire dated 1840 (9 Sept.) addressed to Plymouth, double-ring "more/to/pay" handstamp, some marginal creases between the stamps, fine. A sensational and extremely rare strip, one of the largest recorded vertical strips known on cover and a showpiece of the highest echelon. B.P.A. Certificate (1996).
