x Queensland 1862-67 Thick Toned Paper, No Watermark Perf 13 rough 1d. Indian red, an imperforate block of twenty with sheet margin at left, each crossed by neat horizontal and vertical penstroke, the block endorsed "e e" on reverse being part of the proposed new watermark design for the 1866 issue. A little soiled and with some other lesser faults, but probably the finest piece from the proof sheet. Photo Estimate £ 1,000-1,200 Note: On 17th January 1863, a complete sheet of 120 was sent to Perkins, Bacon & Co. by the Queensland Government Printer, Thomas Ham (of Victoria Half-Lengths fame), as a pattern for the proposed new watermark, "queensland - postage/stamps - stamps" in three lines of script capital.
