x Victoria 1873 (8 Sept.) envelope from Daylesford to Switzerland, marked "via Brindisi", bearing Laureated 6d. (3) and 1873 (25 June) perf. 12 1/2d. on 1d. green (2, one creased due to originally being affixed over top edge of cover), each cancelled by Barred Numeral "173", showing despatch c.d.s., circular-framed "pd", London Paid transit d.s. (4.11) and, on reverse, Melbourne and Logano (7.11) datestamps. A most attractive franking. Photo Estimate £ 250-300 Note: The 1/2d. on 1d. Laureate was intended for usage on newspaper wrappers, hence their low survival rate. Geoff Kellow in "The Stamps of Victoria" records only one other cover bearing this adhesive.
