Horncastle, Lincs This is a new reverse variety for this issue. The obverse matches a type already well known for Jaenberht (as N.224, S.882, Blunt 126). The reverse, with the two line inscription within lunettes and the horizontal crosses, has not been recorded before. The closest parallel to this is an obverse die used by the Canterbury moneyer Ethelnoth for Offa. This coin may suggest that this moneyer worked for the Archbishop as well as Offa.
