x Great Britain Postal History 1840 Uniform Penny Postage 1840 (10 Jan.) printed letter from the Equitable Society to Temple Bar bearing a fine strike of tombstone Paid, redirected to Stow, near Daventry and again redirected to Westminster (address on reverse) with manuscript "Pd 4d" crossed through with undated Daventry and Weedon c.d.s. (13/1); the reverse with "T.P./B.O.Strand" over tombstone Paid (14/1) and manuscript "P4" in red ink. An appealing and intriguing cover used on the first day of the Uniform Penny Post.
