Seymour 2d. Bn. R.W. Surr. R.), claw tightened, surname partially officially corrected; Queen´s South Africa 1899-1902, four clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill (1531 C. Sgt. W. Seymour, C.I.V.); Army Long Service & G.C., G.V.R., 1st ´Field Marshal´s bust´ type (4643 C. Sgt: W. Seymour. R.D.C.), light contact marks, generally very fine or better (3) Estimate £ 400-450 Colour Sergeant William Seymour, born Battersea, London; enlisted 2nd Battalion Royal West Surrey Regiment, 1883; Corporal 1888; Colour Sergeant 1894; attached with this rank to the C.I.V., for service in South Africa, from 18.1.1900; transferred 4th Volunteer Battalion Royal West Surrey Regiment 1.12.1900; discharged 27.6.1905; re-engaged for service during the Great War with the 2/5th Royal West Surrey Regiment, 5.11.1914; transferred Royal Defence Corps, 29.4.1916; discharged 20.3.1918, becoming a Chelsea Pensioner in May of the same year; Seymour died 8.9.1919.
