Goddard, Royal Navy Naval General Service 1793-1840, one clasp, Syria (David Goddard.); India General Service 1854-95, one clasp, Pegu (Davd. Goddard. Boatsns. Mate. "Hastings"); Baltic 1854-55, unnamed as issued; Naval Long Service & G.C., V.R., wide suspension (D. Goddard. Chief. Guns. Mate H.M.S. Majestic 21yrs); St. Jean D´Acre 1840, copper, plugged with contemporary German silver straight bar suspension, generally good very fine or better, the last silvered, mounted court style for display (5) Estimate £ 1,200-1,600 David Goddard, born Portsea, Hampshire, 1814; joined the Royal Navy in 1832, his service including in H.M.S.´´s Pearl, Dublin, as an Able Seaman in H.M.S. Edinburgh on and off the coast of Syria, 1840; as a Boatswain´´s Mate in H.M.S. Vestal and H.M.S. Hastings, 1848-53, and as Chief Gunner´´s Mate in H.M.S. Majestic, 1853-57 (awarded L.S. & G.C. 5.5.1857).
