Japan 1883 (5 Nov.) large "h.i.j.m´s/ foreign office, tokio" envelope registered to France, bearing 1875 Cherry Blossom 20s. red syallabic 8 with Koban 5s. blue and 50s. carmine cancelled by cork obliterators with Tokyo despatch alongside registration handstamp, Yokohama and New York registration; the reverse with wafer seals of the Ministry. Also bearing Koban 2s. rosine which in our opinion is not part of the original franking, nevertheles a fine and remarkable cover. Photo.
