x India Covers and Cancellations 1859 yellow envelope from Bombay to USA, rated "16" in red, bearing 1855 8a. in combination with GB 2d. and 4d. (both defective), each cancelled by "1" in diamond of bars, showing framed "india paid", London Paid c.d.s. (25.6) and "5/n. york am pkt" transit d.s. (5.7); the cover with some wear at edges. A very rare and unusual usage of GB adhesives in India. B.P.A. Certificate (1993). Photo Estimate £ 1,800-2,200 Note: The correct rate from India to USA at this time was 9a.6p. per 1/2 ounce.
