x France Ballon Monté 1870-71, the balance of the Ballon Monté collection (18 items) with covers (8) and Gazette Des Absents (10), condition variable but with some fine, also "La Poste A Paris pendant le Siège et sous la Commune" (spine cover faulty) by Leon Chamboissier Estimate £ 600-800 Note: The letter was carried to England under a new Parliamentary Act which was passed on the 18th. July 1823. It took nearly six months for the information to reach India. The Act granted soldiers, for the first time, the right to send their letters unpaid with the recipient paying a privilege postage of 3d. Illustrated on page E.248 of the Robertson handbook
