France Ballon Monté No. 9 ´Le Washington´ 1870 (11 Oct.), envelope (complete with original contents) to New Orleans, USA franked by 1867 10c. bistre and 40c. orange tied by Paris Star/9 with Rue Montaigne c.d.s. at right, red London Paid transit c.d.s. (18/10) on front and unframed ´2 Cents´ due marking applied for local delivery on arrival. Whilst the cover is 20 centimes underpaid, the 10c. appears to have been confused for the 30c. brown in this instance and a similar cover from this correspondence accompanies the lot.
