Bermuda 1865-1903 Watermark Crown CC — 1873 (13 June) envelope (with enclosure) to Gosport, marked "Via New York", bearing 1d. rose-red and 6d. dull purple sharing indistinct obliterator, showing "hamilton/bermuda" c.d.s., "paid/liverpool/u.s. packet/3a" d.s. in red and with part arrival c.d.s. (8.7) on reverse; the cover with flap missing. The contents of the letter include "This line of steamers is inferior to the Cunard...one does not take kindly to the equality of the Yankee of an inferior class.." and "You should only write via Halifax by the mail leaving about 3rd-6th of every month as there is only one steamer from there to Bermuda which leaves between the 16th and 19th.
