Sanson. 17/K.R.R.C.) b) British War and Victory Medals (R-37351 Pte. C. Sanson. K.R.Rif.C.), minor edge bruising to first, very fine (3) Estimate £ 240-280 M.M. London Gazette 14.1.1918 R-37351 Pte. C. Sanson 17th Bn. K.R.R.C. (Hackney) In 1917 the 17th Battalion King´´s Royal Rifle Corps were in action during the Battle of Passchendaele. In particular: on the 31st of July when the battalion took part in a successful attack at Pilckem, suffering 1 officer killed, 1 officer wound, and 73 other ranks killed or wounded; and on the 20th September when Sanson´´s battalion took part in a big attack on the left of the 39th Division next to the 124th Brigade - capturing their 1st and 2nd objectives, the 17th Battalion then had to form a defensive flank to the 129th Brigade. The 17th Battalion suffered 1 officer killed, 5 officers wounded and 166 other ranks killed or wounded during the attack.
