A Great War ´French Theatre´ M.M. to Sergeant W.C. Greenwood, Royal Artillery Military Medal, G.V.R. (L-228 Sjt. W.C. Greenwood. R.F.A.), nearly very fine Estimate £ 120-140 M.M. London Gazette 28.7.1917 32126 Sjt. W.C. Greenwood 192nd Siege By., R.G.A. [sic]. There are two W.C. Greenwood´´s given by MIC cards as serving with the Royal Artillery during the Great War -228 Sergeant W.C. Greenwood who served during the Great War with the Royal Field Artillery in the French Theatre of War, from 1.2.1915 and 32126 Sergeant W.C. Greenwood Royal Garrison Artillery. According to the London Gazette, M.M. Theatre Card, and the relevant MIC cards only one W.C. Greenwood was awarded the M.M. for his gallantry during the Great War. The latter being 32126 W.C. Greenwood R.G.A. The details of the man named on the medal, although officially impressed, seem to have been done in error at the time of naming.
