Maharajpoor Star 1843 (Captain Patrick McKie, H.M. 3rd. Regt.), with later steel straight bar suspension, nearly extremely fine, in a contemporary fitted case, with the following related items: - Probate of the recipient´s Will, on vellum, dated 1.8.1849, and authorised by the Court of the Archbishop of Canterbury - History of the House and Clan of MacKay, by Robert MacKay, 1829, 592pp, inscribed ´Presented to his late Adjutant Captain McKie of H:M: 3rd. Foot (or Buffs), by Major General Stewart, with best good wishes for his health and happiness. Fort William, Bengal, April 6th 1831.´ - Clan MacKay booklet. Estimate £ 650-750 Major Patrick McKie, Commissioned Ensign, November 1812; Lieutenant, November 1814; served in the Nepal War 1814-15, and present at the siege and capture of Hatrass; served during the Pindari and Third Mahratta War, 1817-19, and in the Burmese War, 1824-26; wounded at the assault of Merguie, 6.10.1824; Captain, October 1829; served as Assistant Adjutant-General during the Gwalior Campaign, and present at the Battle of Maharajpoor, 29.12.1843; Major, April 1844.
