Cavy.), officially impressed, extremely fine, in a contemporary fitted leather case Estimate £ 5,500-6,500 Captain James Paterson (1784-1850), born Longforgan, Perthshire; Commissioned Cornet, June 1800; arrived in India and posted to the 4th Bengal Light Cavalry, January 1801; present at the operations in Jumna Doab, Sasni, Bijaigarh, and Kachaura; served during the Second Mahratta War as part of the Commander-in-Chief General Lake´´s Grand Army, and was present at the Capture of Allighur, 4.9.1803, and the Battle of Laswarree, ´´as fierce a fight as ever was fought by men´´, 1.11.1803.
