London Gazette 29.3.1945 7586168 Warrant Officer Class I (Sub-Conductor) Leslie Stuart Turner, Royal Army Ordnance Corps (Clavering, Essex) ´´In recognition of gallant and distinguished services in North-West Europe´´, recommendation states, ´´S/Cdr Turner has continued to carry out in a very efficient manner the duties of R.S.M. and Chief Clerk to HQ 30 Corps Tps Ord. During the period under review he has been untiring in his efforts to ensure the smooth working of Ordnance Services insofar as they affect Corps and Army Troops. His task has been made more difficult by the rapid advance and frequent changes in Corps and Army Troops under command. At all times cheerful and tactful, he has made it his duty to meet units requirements, day or night. His enthusiasm for his work, and the high standard he has set, have been an inspiration to all personnel with whom he has come in contact.´´ Major Leslie Stuart Turner M.B.E., born Clavering Essex, 23.10.1913; served during the Second World War with the Royal Army Ordnance Corps, and in total served 7 years 184 days in the ranks and 13 years as a Warrant Officer; commissioned Lieutenant 3.3.1952; retired Major 23.10.1968.
