x Great Britain Line-Engraved Issues 1840 One Penny Black Plated and Unplated Selections An attractively mounted and written-up selection of unusual examples, comprising varieties with re-entries (3), inverted watermark, minor surface printing flaws (2), cancellations with distinctive Maltese Crosses (3, stated to be from Manchester, Stonehaven and Wotton under Edge), part Oxford(?) double-arc d.s., London "68" numeral type; examples used on cover (3): one showing very fine red h.s. "Above authorized weight", one on cover redirected showing ink manuscript "1", the other apparently affixed using red sealing wax. An attractive and most appealing assembly*** RW: most of the items are dodgy/poor (possibly except the inv. wmk.) and I really think it is better offered as one lot ******** Estimate £ 2,000-2,500
