China, Republic, Order of the Golden Grain, Second Class set of Insignia, sash Badge, 95mm including star and clouds suspension x 63mm, silver-gilt and enamel; Star, 84mm, silver, silver-gilt, and enamel, with stamp on reverse, nearly extremely fine, with full sash riband and lapel rosette, in damaged case of issue (2) Estimate £ 500-550 This insignia, together with the Insignia of the Japanese Order of the Rising Sun (Lot 485), was bestowed upon Theophile Piry, Diplomat and Ambassador. Four of Piry´s other awards, the Chinese Order of the Double Dragon, the French Colonial Order of the Dragon of Amman, the Prussian Order of the Red Eagle, and the Russian Order of St. Stanislaus, together with his group of twelve miniature awards, were sold at Spink on 22.11.2005, Lots 188-192.
