x Queensland 1860 imperforate, 1d. carmine rose clearly cancelled with sunburst "133" and tied on undated entire (on "1861" watermarked paper) from Dalby addressed locally to F.W. Roche (later Mayor of Dalby), small part red wax seal on reverse; the adhesive with margins on the vertical sides, defective at foot, and the entire with small faults, though an extremely rare Town Rate Letter with only two examples recorded bearing the imperforate 1d.. The Post Office opened on 1 August 1854 Myall Creek was the site of a massacre on the Aboriginal population in 1838. In early May 1838 a group of Aboriginal people were attacked by stockmen at Henry Dangar´s Myall Creek station after cattle losses. 31 Aborigines were killed. Governor Gipps ordered an investigation into the massacre and eventually seven men were charged with murder, convicted and sentenced to be hung
