THE BECHUANALANDS British Bechuanaland 1887 (1 November) Overprinted 1/2d. Vermilion Essays 1/2d. vermilion marginal strip of three from the top of the sheet overprinted "british" (7 1/2mm.) at top and "bechuanaland" (15mm.) at foot, spaced 17 1/2mm. apart, the left-hand and centre stamps showing rough pencil sketch outlines as suggestions for the revised spacing for the essay contained in the following lot, large part original gum; one stamp thinned at foot and some thins in margin.
