London Gazette 29.10.1915 Temporary Lieutenant Allan Noel Minns, 39th Field Ambulance, Royal Army Medical Corps ´For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty at Suvla Bay, Gallipoli Peninsula, on 30th August 1915, when attending to the wounded under heavy shrapnel fire. Another officer who was assisting him was killed. Lieutenant Minns later returned to the dressing station, took out 12 stretcher squads and brought in 24 wounded men.´ Major Alan Noel Minns, D.S.O., M.C., born 1891; commissioned Temporary Lieutenant Royal Army Medical Corps, 26.9.1914; served during the Great War in the Gallipoli Theatre of War, 18.6.1915-9.1.1916; with the Egyptian Expeditionary Force, January-March 1916; in the Mesopotamian Theatre of War, March-July 1916; India 1916-17 and Mesopotamia again 1917-21 (D.S.O.; M.C.; M.I.D. London Gazette 29.10.1915, 19.10.1916, 27.8.1918 and 9.9.1921); Captain 26.3.1918; died at home 6.4.1921.
