On the outbreak of the Great War Lord Kensington raised the Welsh Horse Yeomanry, the first Regiment of any formation to be official raised as a result of the War, and was appointed to its command, 18.8.1914; saw action in the Dardanelles Operation, 1915 (Mentioned in Despatches); in the Sinai and Jerusalem Campaigns 1916-17; and with the British Expeditionary Force in France, 1918 (Mentioned in Despatches). After the War he resumed his appointment as Colonel of the Pembroke Royal Garrison Artillery, Territorial Force, 1918-24; Colonel, Pembroke Heavy Brigade, Royal Artillery, Territorial Force, 1924-30. Colonel Lord Kensington retired in 1930 and died 4.3.1938
