The Unique South Africa 1879 Group of Three to Lieutenant-Colonel E.C. Martin, Royal Irish Fusiliers South Africa 1877-79, one clasp, 1879 (Lieut: E.C. Martin. 87th Foot); Egypt 1882-89, dated, one clasp, Tel-El-Kebir (Capt. E.C. Martin. 1/R.I. Fus:), light pitting from Star; Khedive´s Star 1882, otherwise good very fine, with the associated miniature awards, the 1st named to the recipient, all housed within a glass-fronted, velvet lined mahogany display case bearing the emblem of the 87th and containing a Headdress badge of the 87th Foot and two bullion collar badges, and chin-strap from blue-cloth helmet, the frame bearing a silver plate engraved "Lieut Colonel Evelyn Charles Martin" (3) Estimate £ 1,800-2,200 Lieutenant-Colonel Evelyn Charles Martin (1847-1904), of the Heath, Upton-Severn, Worcestershire; Ensign 87th Foot 1866; Lieutenant 1870; served during the Zulu War attached to the Commissariat and Transport Staff, for Special Service, June 1879-6.11.1879; Captain 1880; Major 1886; retired Lieutenant-Colonel 1887. Lieutenant-Colonel Martin´s South Africa Medal is unique to the Regiment.
