Kings and Queens of England, c.1731, by Jean Dassier, a complete set of thirty three medals in bronze, depicting the monarchs from William I to George II, each medal 41 m.m., except for that of Oliver Cromwell (38 m.m., indicating the fact that Cromwell was not king), the obverses with portraits of the monarchs, the reverses with representations of their tombs; with two additional similar medals by Dassier - one of Queen Caroline, 1731, in the same style, and a further example of George II, the reverse bearing a fourteen line dedication; housed in a fitted green shagreen case with lock, the lid inscribed the royal series in gold tooling, probably contemporary (MI.i,1 & ii,498/43, 499/44), the medals nearly extremely fine or extremely fine, a few with minor spots; the case rubbed, the lid detached and lacking the key, a rare set (35) Estimate £ 1,000-1,200
