Trinidad 1848-51 Britannia Proofs Set of six progressive die proofs, each stamp-size in black on card, with margins in places, and each mounted in sunk card, comprising:- 1) Face heavily shaded. Bale only at left. Outline of ship sailing to left. 2) Similar to No. 1 but ship has been fully drawn, still sailing to left 3) Much of the shading of the face, figure and lower background cleared off. 4) Ship drawn in, sailing to right. Box added on left and shading added generally. 5) Very similar to No. 4, slight touching-up only; see pennant at head-mast. 6) Finished design. Shading added to face and arms of Britannia, and to sails of ship, etc. Some slight staining or soiling though a magnificent exhibition group. Photo Estimate £ 30,000-32,000
