Tasmania 1899-1912 Pictorial Issue 1899-1900 Engraved and Issued by De La Rue — 1d. carmine horizontal strip of three; traces of water stain lines on reverse, otherwise fine. Photo Estimate £ 250-300Note: In 1966 one sheet of the 1d. value imperforate on "TAS" watermarked paper was found with perforated sheets of the other values. This sheet was in a distinctive pink-red shade and the sheet was dated in 1901. Easton reports that in January 1901 De La Rue had an accident with two of the plates for the 1d. value and replaced them at their own expense. This pink-red proof sheet is believed to have been printed from one of the new plates and the above strip is believed to emanate from it. See Tinsley, page 80
